SPRING EAGLE FESTIVAL APPROACHING (by MONTSAME)

Biannually organized in Ulaanbaatar and Bayan-Ulgii aimag, the objectives of the festival are to develop winter tourism, attract foreign tourists in Bayan-Ulgii aimag, and promote nomadic tradition and cultural heritage to foreign and domestic tourists.
As one of the most important events of Mongolian tourism, the Eagle Festival plays an import ant role to augment the number of foreign tourists, introducing Kazakh people’s culture of eagle hunting to tourists, increasing income of tourist camps, raising people’s awareness of preserving nature as well as increasing their engagement.
Moreover, the festival will take place in a form of competitions. Participating eagle hunter/huntress in the competitions wear their traditional clothes, sit their trained eagle on their arms and enter the festival field riding horses. During the festival, eagle trainer with best decorated horse and eagle, and best traditional clothes will be selected.
